Are you ready for Spring?  If you are in the DMV I am sure you tired of the up and down weather and are ready to get started enjoying warmer weather.

Last week, literally, the day after our big storm here in DC, we did a segment on ABC 7 showing a few do it yourself tips for Spring and how to bring Spring home.

Here are a few tips and be sure to scroll down to watch the whole TV segment with Bahia Akerele, Lifestyle Expert and Owner of On the Purple Couch

Tips from our TV segment on ABC7 :

  • Bring Flowers home. Check out Bell Flowers in Silver Spring ( another family run business) or stop by your local supermarket or local flower shop. Focus of yellows and greens and lovely pastels.

  • Tulips
  • Daffodils (very inexpensive)
  • Update containers from Valentines day or re-use old coffee or vegetable cans. I painted mine with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. Be sure to pick the paint up at your local stockist. I do get mine from Maison Warehouse in Sterling.
    • Use old vase ( from Valentines Day)
    • Old coffee cans or vegetables cans washed out
    • Use Annie Sloan Chalk Paint to paint the outside.
  • What about refreshing a piece of old furniture in your house? This is one of the easiest things you can do to get ready for Spring time.
    • Using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint
    • select a piece ( a small side table or even a front door)
    • paint & wax and enjoy
    • Annie Sloan Old White
  • Updating your front door with a Spring time wreath.

  • reusing my wreath from the Holidays
  • Fresh greens and more
  • added a few Cherry Blossoms ( the ones on TV I picked up from Bell Flowers my long time friends in Silver Spring, MD )

Hope you enjoy the segment. Do share with your networks and friends. Would love your comments and be sure to follow us on social media.
