A few weeks back we were profiled on our USA Annie Sloan distributor site, HERE .   Chalk Paint is only sold through small independent retailers like Bahia, at On the Purple Couch. Don’t go looking for it at the big boys…you will NOT find it there. Each shop owner and store has their very own style and ‘swag’..not one alike…visit all of them or just a few..and not one will be the same.

We were very excited to be profiled and to be a member of the Annie Sloan Family…

Q: How did you first hear about Chalk Paint®?
A:
When my husband and I first purchased our house, it was pretty much set – all we had to do was paint. I hired a color consultant who had a blog, which led me to a post on Chalk Paint® that featured a beautiful kitchen painted in Paris Grey. I still remember driving out to Frederick, MD with my six month old in tow to buy the paint. Right away I knew that this was an amazing product and that I wanted to be a part of it. I opened my shop in 2012 and the rest, as they say, is history.Q: What is your favorite thing about being an Annie Sloan Stockist?
A:
I love that Chalk Paint® is only sold in the shops of small retailers, real mom-and-pops. We have something that the big boys just don’t have – I love that philosophy.Q: What is your favorite aspect of being a small business owner?
A:
Truly the best and most compelling part is interacting with customers. I’ve had customers who have been with me for almost five years now and even remember my son, Eddie, from the first day we opened in 2012! I also host a lot of workshops – I like to teach, to share and finally, to talk, so what could be better?! Participants really become a part of the On the Purple Couch family, getting hands on training from “the teacher.” That said, I’m always looking for ways to up my game, attending trainings at UNFOLDED and with Annie herself in the UK! [You can see a list of Bahia’s upcoming workshops posted online here.]

Q: When you’re not at work, what are you likely to be found doing?
A:
I love spending time with my family, being outside and enjoying nature. I also support local charities and give free workshops at the local Habitat for Humanity ReStore.
