In 2015 we are proud to introduce our 1st Resident Artist Mare. Mare’s life and perspective are similar to Bahia’s. Having lived all over the world she brings fresh eyes to everyday life and to her art as she interprets life and her journey. We are proud to have her work showcased in our shop in Kensington MD and equally proud that she is on this journey with us~
The mission of Mare Michael is to provide one-of-a-kind abstract art pieces.
Owner and artist, Mare, a former interior designer, creates paintings in various sizes and color palettes to suit the diverse tastes of art lovers and art neophytes alike (as well as to accommodate her ever-shifting artistic inspiration).
Mare seeks to enhance living, work, and communal spaces with her distinctive works of art.
Mare, artist and owner of Mare Michael is a free spirit.
Through her art she seeks to reach a diverse audience and also to showcase her soul. With each piece she seeks to communicate an intimate part of herself to the world. Her body of work is the amalgamation of her experiences, her emotions, and the various states of her heart.
Mare’s process usually involves painting multiple layers of acrylic on canvas, scraping and sanding down as she goes. Each piece reflects a minimum of 20 hours of work, but most reflect something closer to 35. It is a painstaking process, but it is hers and is part of what makes her work so very unique.
Let’s just say that Mare has a lot of layers, and so does her art.
